Sharsheret

Sharsheret is the only national organization supporting Jewish women and families, of all backgrounds, facing breast and ovarian cancer—those who are diagnosed and those at high risk. To date, they serve more than 63,000 women, families, health care professionals, community leaders, and students from all 50 states. All Sharsheret programs serve all women and men.

Sharsheret was founded in November 2001, four months after Rochelle Shoretz was diagnosed with breast cancer. What she wanted, more than anything, was to speak to another young mom who was experience the same life-threatening illness as her. Rochelle and four other young women gathered around Rochelle’s dining room table and Sharsheret was born. From its inception, Sharsheret received overwhelming support and recognition from the cancer, medical, psychosocial, and genetic counseling communities.
